Electric fence nuisance alarms and recurring faults often come down to vegetation, damaged insulators, weak earthing, water ingress or poor connections.
Start with the boundary, not the energiser
Repeated alarms do not automatically mean the energiser has failed. Vegetation touching live strands, cracked insulators, loose joints, damaged wiring, poor earth conditions and water ingress can all change the way the fence behaves.
Look for patterns
- Faults after rain can point to leakage or damaged insulation.
- Faults on windy days can come from vegetation or loose conductors.
- A fence that has gradually become weaker may need earthing, connection or energiser checks.
Do not bypass safety devices or work on an energised fence. A qualified / registered installer should handle work that requires certification or specialised testing.
